Sante Productions partnered with the Djarum Foundation to create Bersahabat Dengan Mangrove, a compelling three‐minute documentary that honours the journey of Sururi, a mangrove farmer in Desa Mangkang, Mangunharjo, Semarang. Since 1997 he has been cultivating mangroves—and from 2008 his efforts joined with the Foundation’s Djarum Trees for Life (DTFL) to rehabilitate coastal ecosystems.

The film guides viewers through the challenges of restoring mangrove forests on the vulnerable north coast of Java: from sandy shores hit by coastal abrasion, to thriving ecosystems that now serve local fishermen, artisans, and communities. Together with the Foundation and Sururi, the documentary shows how over 800,000+ seedlings and counting have been planted under DTFL’s program in this region—turning once-eroded land into hope and livelihood.

Visually immersive and emotionally grounded, Bersahabat Dengan Mangrove uses tight portraits of Sururi, slow-motion coastal shots, and candid community moments to reflect the dual mission of ecological restoration and social empowerment. Sante Productions brings this story to life with care: unfolding not just the planting of trees, but the planting of trust, resilience, and renewal.
